WELCOME TO KDU NORTHEAST
Krio Descendants Union Northeast is an active and integral part of KDU Global, Inc. We are one of fourteen chapters that make up the collective leadership of KDU Global, Inc. Our common thread is the preservation of the rich and diverse culture and heritage of the Krios of Freetown, Sierra Leone and ensuring that our children grow up to understand and appreciate them.
VISION
The vision is to ensure that the rich history and heritage of the Krios is maintained and preserved for the future generation. To achieve this, the Organization has maintained a Young Adults group. They plan their own activities and are also included in the overall planning of KDU Northeast events. They are empowered to take an active role in the Organization.
GOALS
The Organization’s goals are: to develop a network of professionals and entrepreneurs to promote economic development and growth within the Krio community locally and at large; to develop a mentoring system utilizing professionals who would network to encourage and advise individuals seeking to enter their professions; and to create a positive social environment for the younger generation to interact.
Values
Stewardship – honoring our heritage
Respect – treating everyone with dignity and respect
Tolerance – acknowledging and respecting differences
Education – challenging each other to continually learn about our culture
Communicating – encouraging other like-minded organizations to promote our culture
